Outside Sales Representative
Job Description
Spectrum Systems, Inc., a growing software solutions
provider located in Fairfax, Virginia, is seeking
candidates to fulfill a strategic sales role responsible
for expanding our presence within the federal space.
Successful candidates will be expected to work
independently to uncover new opportunities, and with
other team members to expand existing accounts. This
individual will have a “hunter” sales mentality, an
entrepreneurial attitude, extensive “C” level contacts
in the Federal space, and a verifiable track record of
developing and closing Federal business.
Compensation
Pay attributed to experience. Compensation has a
base salary and commission component. Spectrum Systems,

Position Responsibilities
- Find and close net new outside services
opportunities
- Grow existing accounts as assigned
- Work in tandem with our inside sales team to
understand customer needs and cultivate emerging
service opportunities
- Identify new on-the-horizon services contract
opportunities
- Capture appropriate activity data according to
corporate procedure
- Assume responsibility for all aspects of the
selling cycle, from proposal preparation through
management of opportunity pipeline
- Support and promote use of corporate
communication systems and other office processes
within the sales department: Outlook, CRM,
forecasting/reporting ad our time and expense
reporting systems
- Conducts self and business activities with
highest standard of ethical practice
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of successful outside sales experience
with enterprise technology services sales to Federal
and State agencies
- Recent documented experience selling services
with specific emphasis on HP and IBM software
products in the Automated Testing, Performance and
Application Monitoring and Business Technology
Optimization space
- BA/BS degree preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of government
contracting to include GSA IT schedules and other
purchasing vehicles
- Knowledge of Government budgets and procurement
cycles
- Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, written
and oral communication skills
- Ability to listen and hear customer needs and to
build a appropriate solution around those needs with
both services and products
- Ability to effectively present, interact and
negotiate with all levels and personalities of an
organization
- Skilled at relationship / consultative based
sales
- Comprehensive understanding of staff
augmentation and margins
- Be accountable
