WSO2 is an innovative Open Source technology
company devoted to building Web services middleware for
your SOA. WSO2 has reinvented enterprise
middleware from the ground up.
WSO2 SOA Enablement Server
In addition to a
fully open source WSO2 SOA platform,
WSO2 also provides licensing and support
for the WSO2 SOA Enablement Server,
available in both Java and C++ versions.
Acquired from HP in early 2009, the WSO2
SOA Enablement Server products may be
more familiar to end users by their
previous names, including HP SOA
Enablement Server for Java, HP SOA
Enablement Server for C++, Systinet
Server for Java (SSJ), or Systinet
Server for C++ (SSC).
Customers who have
been using the HP SOA Enablement Server
(or SSJ/SSC) are able to easily
transition their licensing and support
needs directly to WSO2, without having
to migrate code or disrupt their
deployments in any way. Simply
contact WSO2 near the end of your
maintenance contract term.
WSO2 is uniquely
positioned to provide superior technical
support to SOA Enablement Server
customers due to a large team of
seasoned SOA engineers, many of whom are
contributors to Apache Axis2/Java and
Apache Axis2/C. In addition, WSO2 is
committed to keeping current with major
platform and operating system releases,
as well as working with customers to
address specific feature requests.

Open Source Middleware
WSO2 offers the only built-for-purpose middleware stack.
Throughout the product line WSO2 offers compelling value
with a lean, high performance approach, unparalleled
extensibility and componentization, user-praised
ease-of-use, and rapid customer-driven product
evolution. Combined with a straightforward business
model based on no-gimmicks open source licensing and
superior support and services, WSO2’s offering is able
to provide solutions to a wide variety of enterprise
problems.
WSO2 Carbon
Other than the WSO2 Web Services Framework product line,
WSO2 products are based on WSO2 Carbon, an OSGi-based
component framework allowing the products to leverage
shared components. This sharing ensures a consistent set
of features between products and a consistent user
experience (e.g. the security management interface for
each product isn’t merely similar – it reuses the
identical component). This framework not only enhances
WSO2’s productivity developing and delivering new
products, but also allows advanced customers to package
a customized set of features into customized middleware
runtimes. Although Carbon itself is not a “product”,
customized Carbon-based runtimes, developed in-house by
Intermountain Healthcare or with assistance from WSO2
Professional Services, provide ultimate flexibility in
applying WSO2 technologies to challenging middleware
tasks.
WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
The WSO2 ESB offers a new lean approach to creating an
SOA by adding monitoring, management and virtualization
to your existing service interactions. Its innovative
design leads it to be one of the highest performance,
lowest footprint, and widest interoperability
integration systems available. The graphical pipeline
editor and the XML-based configuration language support
complex flows without dropping down to a full
programming language for common tasks.
WSO2 Web Services Application Server (WSAS)
A leaner, simpler, more interoperable platform for
hosting Java-based services than J2EE, the WSO2 Web
Services Application Server simplifies the development,
deployment, and management of Web services. With
features supporting clustering and high availability,
Eclipse IDE integration, full support for key WS-* and
REST standards, WSAS is becoming the platform of choice
for developers and SOA architects.
WSO2 Data Services Server (DS)
Need to expose relational data or other data sources as
secure, reliable, metadata-driven Web Services? The WSO2
Data Services Server’s graphical wizard or Eclipse
plug-in wizard allow you to quickly map queries to Web
Services without time-consuming programming. Data
Services are the fastest way to bring SOA design
principles and governance to your data layer.
WSO2 Governance Registry
Keeping control of your SOA starts with an easy to use
metadata repository, complete with support for full
versioning, lifecycle management, a rich model for
users/roles/permissions, and social features such as
tagging, rating, and comments. Add to that integration
with other WSO2 products to collect metadata about
services, centralize policy metadata, and manage
dependencies. The WSO2 Governance Registry connects SOA
infrastructure with the people, processes, and policies
essential to an effective SOA.
WSO2 Business Process Server (BPS)
The Business Process Server executes business processes
described using the WS-BPEL standard for orchestrating
Web Service interactions. Features for managing,
securing, and defining business process with graphical
console are included.
WSO2 Identity Server (IS)
The WSO2 Identity Server supports identity and
entitlement management. It supports state-of-the art
mechanisms such as OpenID and Information Cards for
authentication as well as XACML for fine-grained
authorization. Integrates easily into existing user
stores such as LDAP or Active Directory. Supports
multi-factor authentication and much more.
WSO2 Mashup Server (MS)
The WSO2 Mashup Server supports the composition of Web
Services, feeds, scraped Web pages, files and other
information sources into new Web Services. A Web
2.0-style compliment to the WSO2 Business Process
Server, the Mashup Server is oriented towards Web
developers (Javascript + HTML/XML skills) and enables
the rapid development and sharing of new services. It
includes features for connecting Web Services to humans
through Web pages, gadgets, feeds, instant messages and
email, and so forth.
WSO2 Gadget Server (GS)
The WSO2 Gadget Server provides a customized end-user
portal or dashboard for monitoring and managing
conditions within an SOA, an enterprise, or elsewhere.
Each provisioned user receives a customizable portal
containing Google Gadgets which can be developed and
deployed in a simple, decentralized fashion. WSO2
products such as the WSO2 Mashup Server provide a simple
mechanism for collecting services and deploying the
results as enterprise gadgets for the user. Many
third-party Google Gadgets are available and can be
added to a users personalized dashboard.
WSO2 Business Activity Monitor (BAM)
The WSO2 Business Activity Monitor collects streams of
event information from agents that can be added to WSO2
Carbon based products, analyzes them, and makes this
critical information available as a set of gadgets
through the WSO2 Gadget Server. Analysis and new gadgets
representing the vital conditions of your business that
are processed within your SOA can be easily developed
and added to create the ultimate Executive Dashboard.
WSO2 Web Services Framework (WSF)
Based on Axis2/C and Axis2/Java, the Web Services
Framework product family supports the exposure and
consumption of Web Services in a variety of programming
environments:
• WSF/C
• WSF/C++
• WSF/PHP
• WSF/Perl
• WSF/Python
• WSF/Ruby
• WSF/Spring
• WSF/Jython
WSF/C and WSF/C++ in particular feature dramatically
greater performance than that possible in a JVM
environment, as well as provide a compelling solution
for integrating legacy code through the SOA. The high
throughput and stable footprint, along with a solid
feature set and interoperability surface, are broader
than any other C-language based Web Service platform.
This code is used in demanding situations from
mainframes to hardware appliances.
WSO2 Adapters
WSO2 also produces adapters to serve the unique protocol
needs of vertical industries. The current set of
adapters (normally commanding a premium price in
conjunction with a WSO2 product runtime) includes:
• HL7 (healthcare)
• FIX (financial)
Upcoming Releases
WSO2 is aggressively increasing the capabilities of the
product line. Here are a few of the products WSO2 is
working on now:
• WSO2 Business Rules Server
• WSO2 Event Server
Any WSO2 Carbon-based products, and any new Web Services
Frameworks, released in the next three years will be
included in unlimited Enterprise Production Support.
